Pricklypear Cactus, Opuntia sp.

Blooming April through July, the flowers of the pricklypear are among the most beautiful flowers. They occur in shades of pink, orange, and yellow within the same species and sometimes on the same plant. The striking, short-lived blooms are often 2 to 3 inches wide. Its fruits are edible when ripe and were a staple food of Native Americans.
