Cape Cod, Massachusetts 鳕鱼角
In 1602, an Englishman named Barotholomew Gosnold was navigating the waters off of the coast of New England. One day a tremendous school of cod fish swam around his ship: on the spur of the moment he called the place they were passing" Cape Cod", charting it so on his map. When his king heard of this he was not pleased, and he in turn called the peninsula Cape James. But no pne would call it that, thus the name "Cape Cod" sticks and so it will be called" till the shoals of cod fish be seen swamming on its highest hills".
Cape Cod is a popular destination for tourists around the world!

The valley of Big Run is one of the Shenandoah National Park's most scenic. From Big Run Overlook (milepost 81.2), the vista opens into the depths of the park's largest stream, surrounded by Rockytop Ridge, Rocky Mountain and Brown Mountain. On a clear day the quartz outcrops on Rocky Mountain are visible.

Pricklypear Cactus, Opuntia sp.

Blooming April through July, the flowers of the pricklypear are among the most beautiful flowers. They occur in shades of pink, orange, and yellow within the same species and sometimes on the same plant. The striking, short-lived blooms are often 2 to 3 inches wide. Its fruits are edible when ripe and were a staple food of Native Americans.
